Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, honors the history and achievements of Hispanic and Latin communities. At Senior Planet, we offer a variety of courses in Spanish, welfare programs, and discussion groups to help you acquire new skills, stay active, and connect with like-minded individuals. Learn something new with us and enrich your daily life.

Learn something new
Edna Ordoñez, a 79-year-old bilingual retiree, has been learning with us since 2023. “I created a folder with all the brochures and my notes that I consult whenever I need to remember something. And if I need a review, I take the classes again.” Recently, she put her knowledge into practice by booking an Airbnb through our Introduction to Online Vacation Booking in Spanish course. “I am clumsy with technology, but thanks to the course, I was able to download the Airbnb app and, using my notes, I booked a stay in June 2026 in Los Angeles to attend my grandson’s graduation ceremony.”

Check out our upcoming virtual classes in Spanish:

  • Friday, October 17 at 11 AM (Eastern Time) – Introduction to AI: Learn the basics of artificial intelligence and how programs like ChatGPT work.
  • Tuesday, October 21 at 4 PM (Eastern Time) – Introduction to Nextdoor: Discover your neighborhood with the Nextdoor app and learn safe methods to use it.
  • Friday, October 24 at 11 AM (Eastern Time) – Introduction to Conversing with AI: Learn how to write prompts to get useful responses from AI for work, projects, or fun.

After exploring AI and Facebook, treat yourself to a break for your mind and body with our new Reiki Meditation in Spanish class. Sara Castaneda, 64, recently participated and said: “It was my first time meditating. I focused and was able to feel what the instructor was saying. I was so relaxed!”
